The CEDR Solve Privy Council Scheme deals with disputes between universities and individuals.
In certain cases an individual aggrieved by an act or omission in one of 17 specified 'old' universities, set up under royal charter, may petition the President of the Council in his or her capacity as the 'Visitor' to determine their complaint. The Visitor may consider a petition if the university's own internal appeal or complaints procedures have been exhausted and may review the university's procedures in the process.
CEDR Solve has set up a scheme offering an eight-hour mediation session and mediators with some background knowledge and experience of the tertiary sector and, in particular, with the internal complaints procedures of these institutions.
A dedicated dispute resolution adviser is available to explain the mediation process to the parties and ensure they are adequately prepared to participate fully on the day.
