CPD documents

As of 1st April 2008 the following changes have been made to CEDR Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

CEDR 'Registered Mediator' status will be discontinued. This does not affect CEDR Accredited Mediator status.

When CEDR introduced the Registered status, more than eight years ago, its aim was to introduce a common standard for practising mediators through its CPD programme, at a time when the practice of mediation was still in its infancy and it was then felt necessary to distinguish between practising mediators and those who were accredited but not practising.  As the market has matured and mediation has become increasingly established, a greater diversity of mediator career paths have developed.  Along with this development has come the emergence of the Civil Mediation Council (CMC), which has taken up the responsibility of representing the whole mediation field.

CEDR will continue to monitor the practice and professional development of CEDR Solve Panel Mediators and CEDR Faculty (please see below).

New CEDR Solve Panel Mediators
(with less than three years on the panel)

Any invitation to join the panel is a commercial decision based on professional background and current mediation practice combined with the current needs of the market place. After invitation the below form should be submitted annually to evidence compliance with a number of criteria:

  • Two mediations
  • Two mediation summaries
  • One mediation debrief and one debrief of another mediator
  • Eight hours of structured training
  • Further learning (e.g. attending seminars, conferences, published articles)

This will be submitted electronically to cpd@cedr.com. You are also required to be an Exchange participant. (Please note, if you are a new member of the Solve panel and CEDR Faculty you need only submit your CEDR Solve new mediator report.)
