The ADR Internship Programme

This programme will involve successful candidates in a wide variety of CEDR's activities.

We are looking for undergraduates and recent graduates who have an academic grounding in a relevant field, and who want to gain valuable research or practical work experience in conflict management or dispute resolution.

You will either be assigned to one or more projects or a specific project area and you will also have the opportunity to work alongside our dispute resolution specialists and, subject to client approval, to observe our mediation and consultancy work. There may also be opportunities to attend some of our training courses and seminars.

To give an indication of what you might experience, here are details of our two most recent technical interns:

  • Nina Khouri spent the second half of 2006 with our dispute resolution services team after graduating from the New York University School of Law, where, as a Fulbright scholar, she concentrated on international law and dispute resolution. Having gained valuable practical experience of mediation, she has now returned to her home country, New Zealand, to practice as a lawyer.
  • Ranse Howell spent nine weeks in the summer of 2006 undertaking a research project for our training team as part of an externship to gain the final credits for his Masters program at Pepperdine University School of Law. (Note: After graduating, Ranse has been engaged by CEDR on a full-time basis. However, we must emphasise that this was an unusual situation, and future interns should not expect that long-term employment opportunities will automatically become available.)
If you are keen to work hard and learn in a stimulating and fun environment with like-minded people please send your CV and a covering letter to Graham Massie at gmassie@cedr.com. Please indicate the period when you are available, and what you are interested in achieving through a CEDR internship.

Although there is no closing date for these opportunities, applications will be reviewed in batches at the end of each quarter.
