Effective Conflict Management Skills with special guest speaker, Margaret Heffernan

CEDR is dedicated to its mission of delivering and improving effective dispute resolution for businesses, and so we would like to invite you, someone we believe may be interested in the better management of business conflict, to join us at this  one-off taster event led by CEDR, which will feature interactive sessions with entrepreneur and author, Margaret Heffernan.

 According to recent CEDR research:

  • Conflict levels in working life are high and are not any getting any better.     
  • Conflict is more likely to happen within an organisation than outside it.
  • A lot of people prefer to ignore conflict and just hope it goes away.     
  • Most people won’t usually cooperate to sort out conflict.

The aim of this 1 day course is to develop tools and techniques in order manage conflict effectively and deal with workplace challenges before they reach a  formal stage.

Delivered by CEDR's Conflict Management team, the course will focus on:

  • Different types of conflict in the workplace     
  • Reflecting on the costs of avoiding and the benefits of  managing conflict in the moment
  • Recognising a range of styles of handling conflict and identify your own preferred style
  • Identifying the value in choosing alternative approaches to handling different conflict situations
  • Identifying and apply a framework for having difficult conversations
  • Practicing individual skills relevant to holding difficult conversations: managing emotions, asking      effective questions and active listening
  • Preparing effectively and then practice having a difficult conversation in a safe environment.

This taster course has been designed to give participants a flavour of what CEDR's expert Conflict Management team can offer to organisations to reduce the cost of their conflicts.
