Mediator Skills Training - Employment & Workplace

Course overview

3 days training focused on employment & workplace mediation
(Optional 2 day accreditation module available)

For businesses few situations are more damaging than protracted and difficult disputes or disagreements with an employee or between groups of employees. Building on their internationally recognised and industry leading commercial Mediator Skills Training, CEDR have developed a mediator skills training programme focussed specifically on employment and workplace conflict, available in two distinctive three day modules. The programme is designed to provide participants with the skills for the effective mediation of all HR and ER employment related disputes.

The optional accreditation module comprises one day of advanced role play (with lawyers/ representatives) with all attendees receiving one to one feedback and coaching on their performance. This is followed by two days of assessment based on the CEDR Mediator Skills competencies. After the course two written assignments must be submitted with two weeks of the course.

Workplace conflict can ravage a well established company, distracting and distressing otherwise strong and efficient management teams responsible for dealing with the consequences. Being skilled to deal with these situations can therefore have a huge impact not only to employee relations but ultimately to an organisations bottom line.

CEDR training is endorsed by The Civil Mediation Council, The Bar Council, The Law Society and The Institute of Leadership and Management. The programme is also recognised for CPD points with the Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development and recognised by The National Open College Network.

Who should attend?

Building on the internationally recognised Mediator Skills Training programme, this programme relies heavily on interactive teaching methodology. No prior knowledge of mediation is nor a substantive knowledge of law.

The skills also form part of an essential management tool-kit for:

  • those with responsibility for resolving disputes, particularly those in the workplace
  • HR and ER professionals, business partners, or investigation officers and advisors, trainers, union representatives, policy advisers
  • any individual wishing to develop their ability to manage internal organisational conflict more effectively or wanting to develop workplace dispute resolution systems.
