For businesses few situations are more damaging than protracted and difficult disputes or disagreements with an employee or between groups of employees. Workplace conflict can ravage a well established company, distracting and distressing otherwise strong and efficient management teams responsible for dealing with the consequences. Being skilled to deal with these situations can therefore have a huge impact not only to employee relations but ultimately to an organisations bottom line.
Building on their internationally recognised and industry leading commercial Mediator Skills Training, CEDR, the Centre for Effective Dispute resolution have developed a workplace mediator skills training programme focussed skills training, available in two distinctive three day modules. The programme is designed to provide participants with the skills for the effective mediation of all HR and employment disputes.
The CEDR Certificate in Workplace Mediation Skills Training is designed to provide the full skill-set to resolve disputes relating to employment and HR. It demonstrates that you have undertaken the training for understanding and conducting mediation although no formal assessment of competence takes place.
The programme focuses specifically on the process of mediation within organisations and the skills to resolve workplace disputes. It includes:

Recognising that a number of attendees on the Workplace Mediator Skills Training may decide at the outset, or indeed at a later stage that they would like to work towards achieving Full Accreditation, CEDR has established a second separate module. CEDR Accreditation sets the global benchmark for mediator skills certification, and is an internationally recognised qualification. Accreditataion allows attendees to move from the workplace focus to the broader remit of commercial competence in dispute resolution.
The Accreditation module comprises one day of advanced role play (with lawyers/ representatives) with all attendees receiving one to one feedback and coaching on their performance. This is followed by two days of assessment based on the CEDR Mediator Skills competencies. After the course two written assignments must be submitted with two weeks of the course.
CEDR training is endorsed by The Civil Mediation Council, The Bar Council, The Law Society and The Institute of Leadership and Management. The programme is also recognised for CPD points with the Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development and recognised by The National Open College Network.
