Construction and engineering

Construction and engineering

Overview

Although the construction sector has long been characterised as having an adversarial culture, it has nevertheless been at the forefront of the development of non-court based approaches to dispute settlement.

Particularly vulnerable to multi-party wrangles with contractors, sub-contractors, engineers and suppliers, as well as cross-border claims for entitlements to penalties or extensions, professional negligence and breach of contract claims, clients are keen to resolve disputes swiftly to ensure that projects can still be completed with minimal delay. Insurers are also amongst those initiating effective dispute resolution processes as they recognise the value of managing risk and avoiding the uncertainty of unresolved claims.

CEDR Solve's neutrals in the field bring expertise from private practice as lawyers, surveyors, architects and industry professionals. With experience in projects of all sizes both in the UK and internationally, they are routinely appointed to assist in early negotiations, ongoing project relationship support, and the quick resolution of disputes.
