The 7 habits of the Master Mediation Advocate

Karl Mackie is Chief Executive of CEDR.  He brings enormous experience to the table in terms of understanding good mediation advocacy.

As a leading pioneer for commercial mediation in Western Europe, he has mediated in virtually every legal and business sector, led the training of the first generation of commercial mediators and lawyer advocates in the UK, has mediated with parties from over 30 countries, and been involved in some of the biggest cases to go through the English litigation system.

Karl has mediated cases involving public bodies, and small employment claims through to mega-litigation group actions and £1bn plus international arbitration.  In addition to being a pioneer in ADR, he helped lead the way for the 'Legal Skills' movement in the UK, as Head of the Centre for Legal Studies at the University of Nottingham, and Director of Negotiation and Management Programmes for the Law Society Commerce and Industry Group.

Karl has co-authored several leading books on ADR including The ADR Practice Guide, and International Mediation - the Art of Business Diplomacy, and was co-author of a leading text on lawyering - Learning Lawyers' Skills.

The seminar will provide Karl's insight into what can make negotiation and mediation a more valuable, strategic experience, truly adding value to the client. Karl has seen the good, the bad and the ugly, and knows what works. If you want to look good with your client, you should be at this event
