International Partnering for Mediator Skills Training

Over many years, CEDR has developed a reputation for the quality of its mediator skills training. Here at CEDR we take this very seriously believing very strongly that well trained mediators are key the integrity of the mediation process.  It is this belief and reputation which has led many other organisations around the world to approach CEDR to work in partnership to bring this quality training to their countries.

Accordingly, CEDR has nearly 20 years of experience of working with different organisations to deliver mediator skills training across the globe, always with the same attention to detail and quality of training. CEDR never compromises on quality or the standard of its accreditation. We can confidently say that a CEDR accredited mediator in Pakistan, South Africa, Hong Kong or India is of the same standard as a CEDR mediator accredited in the UK.

In doing this CEDR has developed a number of different partnership models to enable flexibility without compromising on quality. These are set out below:

Marketing only
Under this model the local partner organisation is responsible for marketing the course in the local jurisdiction and ensuring that there are sufficient participants for the course. All other arrangements and details are dealt with by CEDR. A ‘finders fee is paid to the local organisation for every participant it secures.

Marketing and Logistical Support
Under this model the local organisation is profiled as working in co-operation with CEDR. All training input is supplied by CEDR, with the local organisation making all necessary local arrangement in respect of finding participants, taking payment, sourcing venues and other logistical arrangements.  The local organisation sets the fee to participants in discussion with CEDR, taking into account CEDR’s fee for training delivery as well as the costs associated with the logistical arrangements.

Shared Delivery Model
This model is often considered as a second phase, after the successful completion of initial training in a country, and would be part of a longer-term strategic relationship between CEDR and the local organisation.  Under this model, a group of local mediators are selected to form a local training faculty to work with CEDR to coach and assess participants on subsequent courses. These local trainers are given intensive trainer training focussing on coaching and assessing and then work with CEDR’s UK trainers on subsequent local courses. The benefit of this model is that over time it reduces the need for UK coaches and assessors and therefore can lower the cost of delivering the course. It also builds local training capacity in mediator skills delivery.
