Overview

Steve Clarke is a practising mediator, insurance industry professional and a lead member of the CEDR Training Faculty. He mediates commercial disputes related to many industries and also works with CEDR, training mediators and others involved in dispute resolution all over the world. Steve has mediated disputes in the UK and abroad and has particular expertise in disputes related to the insurance industry, many involving claims valued over and above £1 million. He also works as an expert witness and undertakes various roles for Lloyd’s syndicates with much of his recent work related to Medical Malpractice.

Professional Background

Steve began his career at Alexander Howden & Swann (now Aon) in 1971 and subsequently held increasingly senior broker positions in the insurance industry until he became Executive Director in charge of International Reinsurance Claims at Willis. He moved on to head the Reinsurance team for Lloyd’s Claims Office and then worked for several Lloyd’s Managing Agencies and was Head of Claims for a Lloyd’s Managing Agent before setting up his own consultancy business in 2011, specialising in mediation, training and a wide range of claims roles.

Steve was accredited as a mediator by CEDR in 1999 and has mediated and trained with them ever since. He is a former director of the International Association of Claims Professionals and also a former director of Charlton Athletic Football Club.
