John Munton is responsible for the operation of CEDR’s commercial and consumer dispute resolution services which currently handle over 26,000 disputes every year. He has been working in dispute resolution services for over 30 years and joined CEDR as a Director in 2013, having previously worked with us as a consultant for a number of years. John spent 20 years working as a barristers clerk at Keating Chambers, the international commercial law chambers, working with clients on three continents. During his time at Keating’s he held every operational position in the chambers from Junior Clerk to what is now known as the Director of Clerking.
John’s work in commercial ADR sees him working with clients across many industries in the UK and internationally providing ADR solutions for individual disputes that cover the full spectrum of industries and issues with a cumulative annual claim value of circa £1.5 billion. He also designs and delivers bespoke ADR Schemes for clients including the Central London County Court, the Court of Appeal for England & Wales, the NHS and the Medical Protection Society. He is currently working as a member of the Construction Industry Council Working Group on adjudication and mediation solutions for the construction industry.
Our consumer ADR services has seen tremendous expansion during John’s time as director and now provides ADR for 12 different industries working with household names including British Airways, EasyJet, Heathrow, RICS, Royal Mail, Sky, Talk Talk, Thames Water Thomas Cook Airlines, TUI Airways, United Utilities and Virgin Media.
John has delivered bespoke schemes for a number of industries, trade bodies and organisations over the last five years including aviation, the National Lottery and the Water & Sewerage industry of England and Wales.
