Martyn joined CEDR in May 2016 as our Client Services Manager in the Commercial ADR services department in London following a move across from leading real estate Barrister set, Falcon Chambers, where he managed and administered the Chambers arbitration and mediation services.
Martyn is responsible for our commercial client relations and management of the CEDR mediator and arbitrator panels. His role includes both maintaining and developing existing relationships and looking at new business opportunities and relationship links particularly with regard to law firms, corporates and other business organisations. He advises and guides all our clients on the alternative dispute resolution service options CEDR provides across all Commercial business sectors. These include schemes offered and administered by CEDR including NHS Resolution, The Court of appeal, Central London County Court, CEDR Fixed Fee Mediation Scheme and also our Bespoke Mediation, Expert Determination, Early Neutral Evaluation, Arbitration and Adjudication services.
As part of his role, Martyn is also one of the key contacts in the Commercial team with CEDR‘s International panel of mediators, arbitrators and experts and works closely alongside John Munton, CEDR Commercial ADR Director and Emma Lucas, Commercial Disputes Services Manager, together with other key departments at CEDR to provide advice, support and development on various operational, service delivery, professional and business developments initiatives including training and seminars and also reviewing CEDR panel membership and credentials for new panel applications.
Martyn has a long and established history of working in the legal profession over the past 30 years and is an experienced former Senior Practice Manager having worked within three highly respected and leading sets of Chambers whose practice areas have covered specialisms encompassing; Intellectual property, media & IT, shipping, insurance, banking and commercial litigation, international cross-border and offshore disputes, property and real estate, sport, trust and probate matters. His extensive knowledge and working experience in the legal profession coupled with his excellent ability to successfully engage with legal professionals across all levels of seniority, has allowed his skills to be fully utilised when working with CEDR’s clients, mediators, lawyers and in-house Counsel to whom we supply ADR services both at national and international levels.
Martyn is a fully qualified member of the Institute of Barristers Clerks (IBC) and also a member of the Legal Practice Managers Association (LPMA). He was the recipient of the Annual John Carter memorial award for Student of the Year (1990) when completing the 3-year IBC Business and finance diploma.
He is both a family man and a very active sportsman in many disciplines and has represented the England Veterans football team on numerous occasions.
