I was really sorry to hear that John had passed away. He was someone who really cared about ADR and that showed in his work. He will be missed.

John was an early pioneer in ADR amongst construction professionals. He had a quiet reflective style that spoke well of his wisdom and considerable experience and he will be much missed.

John was a loyal and excellent colleague, this is a very sad loss to the mediation community.

I had the pleasure of supporting John on a complex construction mediation in Qatar a couple of years ago. His professionalism and skills were evident throughout the process and I was very impressed by the way he carefully worked through a complex series of technical and relationship issues, always capturing the right note with each individual.

I remember also that, on our day off, he arranged to go sailing in the bay with a local club. What he didn’t realise was that he would be taken out on a racing catamaran, and that the weather was much rougher than it looked. So he had a far more exhilarating experience than he’d been expecting.

A good man, and I’m saddened by his passing.

John was a thoroughly decent man and a valued colleague. He conducted cases as a neutral with both the commercial and consumer businesses at CEDR and it was always a pleasure to work with him. I recall he was particularly proud of his record in resolving disputes unrelated to his professional origins in the construction industry, which he did with great success.

He will be missed by all us in the CEDR organisation.
