KWN - CEDR - IDRA Mediation Roundtable 2018
On 15 May 2018, CEDR, in conjunction with King & Wood Mallesons (KWN) and the International Dispute Resolution Academy (IDRA), will hold a roundtable discussion on the Hong Kong apology legislation and whether it will assist or hinder commercial mediation.
Hong Kong’s Apology Ordinance came into effect on 1st December 2017. The Ordinance is the first apology-protection legislation in Asia and it extends the protection provided to apologies by similar legislation in many other Common Law jurisdictions.
In this roundtable, Professor Robyn Carroll will explain the background to and rationale for the legislation, the objectives of the legislation and the how its provisions aim to achieve its purposes. The panel of experts including Danny McFadden, Senior Consultant and Asia Pacific Ambassador with CEDR, will share their experience and perspectives on how to use the new legislation effectively in your practice as a lawyer or mediator. Other panelists include Dr James CHIU (Hong Kong based mediator), Mr Edmund Wan (Partner, KWN) and Dr Fan Yang, Director of IDRA Academy and CEDR Accredited Mediator.
For more information about the roundtable can be found here.
