PI and Med Neg sectors to benefit as CEDR appoints 'leader in his field'
Tony Allen, credited in Chambers Directory as a 'leader in his field' in ADR, and Senior Litigation Partner at Bunkers, has joined CEDR (the Centre for Dispute Resolution) to lead the development of its services in personal injury and clinical negligence.
CEDR mediates in an increasingly broad range of business and civil litigation sectors. In response to this CEDR is developing a number of sector-led initiatives, especially in areas beginning to show an interest in mediation such as personal injury and clinical negligence, where it is proven that mediation can offer huge potential.
Commenting, CEDR Chief Executive Karl Mackie said: "We're delighted that Tony is joining us. Tony's breadth of experience means that he is ideally placed to help these new sectors build ADR into their thinking and practice and to help them create more effective dispute management systems in a highly litigious field. Much of Tony's initial responsibility will be to help educate and train the lawyers specialising in this area and, as a specialist himself, he will quickly gain their confidence and support."
Tony Allen is also a senior mediator and has been heavily involved in mediation training for the legal profession and NHS clinical negligence managers. He has been instrumental in developing and implementing schemes with the insurance industry for time-limited mediation and strategic mediations for catastrophic injury cases.
He continues as a consultant at Bunkers. Ray Garrod, Senior Partner at Bunkers, commented: "Tony is the ideal person to lead CEDR's drive to spread the word on ADR to specialist personal injury and clinical negligence lawyers. I am pleased that he will remain a consultant with Bunkers which will enable him to stay in touch with the practicalities and day-to-day concerns of a busy legal practice".
