Advanced training for mediators
Mediator Skills Training - Summer School
Mediator Skills Training - Barcelona
CEDR's International Summer School offers an exceptional combination of venue and content, involving five days of training, plus extra coaching, spread over six days to allow delegates some time to enjoy the stunning location and to reflect on the content and experiential learning of an intensive course. The location provides an excellent environment for networking with other delegates and making the most of having experienced mediator-trainers at your disposal, at trainer to delegate ratio of 1:3. Getting away from the office also encourages delegates to turn their full concentration to a course which demands 150% attention.

Mediation
Mediation can simply be described as assisted negotiation. A neutral mediator can help parties to overcome deadlock and reach a negotiated settlement. Mediation offers advantages over approaches such as litigation or arbitration because it is:
- quick - most mediations last for just one day and can be set up within weeks.
- efficient - there are significant cost savings in management time and professional fees.
- flexible - using mediation does not preclude other approaches to settlement such as litigation.
- effective - about 80 per cent of mediated disputes settle on the day or shortly after.
Programme content
The programme has been described as a ‘mediation laboratory’. Under expert guidance from experienced mediators, participants can test the skills they learn in an extensive series of case studies and exercises. Participants discover which approaches work, which don’t and, most importantly, why. The training culminates with assessment for CEDR Accreditation on the final two days. Over 70 percent of participants gain accreditation.
Training faculty
CEDR's faculty of over 20 trainers is the most experienced body of mediation trainers worldwide. All faculty members are accredited and practising mediators with a collective experience of delivering hundreds of participant training days per year. Their professional backgrounds and experiences span a broad spectrum of sectors.
