Advocacy training for Ince & Co enables the firm to enhance its dispute resolution capabilities
Ince & Co is a leading international law firm, which has offered mediation expertise to its clients for many years and has recently raised the profile of their work in this area. Following some initial consultation with CEDR Solve, a litigation lawyer from Ince & Co attended CEDR's open courses on representing clients in mediation.
Based on the training that the litigation lawyer had observed, we worked with Ince & Co to design a bespoke one-day course for the firm. Their brief required that the course be intensive, interactive and that it be delivered by highly credible trainers.
We devised additional materials and case studies to match the firm's specific requirements and areas of practice. We also identified the best trainer from our faculty to suit its needs. After a pilot course attended by five of the firm's litigation partners, a series of sessions was scheduled. Over a period of six months, 70 of the firm's litigators attended the training. All solicitors joining the firm, including the newly-qualified, will also be trained.
Since completing the training, Ince & Co has greatly enhanced its expertise in offering the breadth of dispute resolution alternatives to its clients and, in the process, has taken well over US$1 billion worth of disputes to mediation. In addition the firm has asked CEDR Solve to develop bespoke training specifically for its corporate lawyers.
