Kenwick is a practicing Barrister in Hong Kong in both civil and criminal matters. His experience in different areas of litigation has given him a deep insight into interpersonal relations and working culture in both the private and also in the public sectors. He has experience in civil mediations as well as mediation between government and citizens in Hong Kong. His expertise comes from his professional background, together with his rich public sector working experience and international exposure.
Kenwick is one of the few Hong Kong born citizens who have professional training and expertise in English common law and China laws. He obtained law degrees from the Manchester Metropolitan University of UK; and Master of Laws from Beijing University and PhD (Law) from the University of International Economics and Business of China. His in-depth legal knowledge and expertise has enabled him to handle cross border disputes effectively. He has been able to convince both sides of the table the extent they could reach respectively, and would not have triggered the limits of the other side’s legal jurisdiction.
Public sector experience
Being a trade official in the Trade and Industry Department of the Hong Kong Government for 30 years, Kenwick is very familiar with the operation of the Government. During his civil service career, he was sent by the Government for overseas training for government administration in the University of Berkeley, California and the John Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, USA respectively. This invaluable experience and worldwide exposure has enabled him to understand the concern of the government officials, what they could do and what limitation they have. The successful mediations between the Government and citizens have demonstrated the importance of his experience.
Kenwick received overseas training in business management in the Japan International Cooperative Agency in Osaka, Japan. He has a MBA degree from the University of Birmingham, UK; and most recently in 2013, a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Research from the University of Newcastle Australia. During 2008-2012 he worked in Invest Hong Kong and attracted many overseas investors to set up physically in this city. The wide spectrum of training and knowledge in business field of different countries helps him to grasp quickly the crux of the commercial disputes of both parties in the mediation. His experience to interact with international investors enables him to easily engage with parties in cross border mediation.
