Session 4: Volcano Insurance – the proactive approach to conflict

28th May 2020, 1-2pm (BST)

In this additional one-hour session we will hear about Volcano Insurance, an initiative started by the late David Richbell, a pioneer in modern Dispute Resolution. Eileen Carroll QC (Hon) will interview Wolf Jürgen von Kumberg, arbitrator, mediator and former Legal Director & Assistant General Counsel of Northrop Grumman and Oliver Richbell of the Dispute Resolution Partnership, about taking earlier action to avoid, manage and resolve disputes.

In the session the panel will consider:

  • How businesses and lawyers can manage conflict differently?
  • Will a focus on relationship and communication assist in unlocking deadlock in business disputes?
  • How does the dispute resolution spectrum of processes fit the needs of modern business?

The book Volcano Insurance: the proactive approach to avoid, manage and resolve disputes by the Dispute Resolution Partnership will be published later this year by Urbane, with all profits going to charity.

Admittance for this bonus session of CEDR’s Online Anniversary Conference, No Going Back: The Future of Dispute Resolution, will be available for all those who book for any of the previous sessions of the conference. Bookings for this seminar can be made below.
