Short Introduction

As a mediator, I have been privileged to have worked on some of the most challenging cases in civil, commercial and employment law. From complex civil and employment cases frequently with interpersonal elements, through to a wide range of commercial cases, I enjoy being able to work with parties from across industries to unlock issues, understand perspectives and find a pathway to settlement. My aim as a mediator is to help parties find a calm, focussed and human way forward.

About Work

Frederick Way is a leading UK Mediator working across civil, commercial and employment disputes. In December 2024, Frederick was named Civil/Commercial Mediator of the Year at the National Mediation Awards, the highest award in UK Mediation. Having trained as a barrister, Frederick has worked since 2013 as a mediator and has extensive experience of civil, commercial, employment, private client, professional negligence, property, wills, trusts and probate, arts, charity, appeals and tax mediation. In his practice, Frederick has mediated disputes between individuals, large corporates, charities and public bodies. He regularly mediates high value civil, commercial and employment claims and cases with complex legal issues or heightened interpersonal conflict. He has worked on cases from disputes between private individuals through to multi-million pound commercial disputes and those involving large national bodies. He is recognised for his ability to provide balance of the commercial, personal and legal drivers, narrow the issues and guide parties towards settlement. As a mediator, Frederick is highly experienced in working with individuals. He is recognised by clients for his ability to handle the human side of a dispute, working sensitively and effectively with individuals on partnership disputes; executive/board fall outs; discrimination cases; family business, property or trust disputes; and cases with additional needs such as mental health/disability, vulnerability; or heightened emotions, frequently settling cases which have been long-running or extremely challenging. In his workplace practice, Frederick combines his facilitation, mediation and coaching skills to help organisations to find resolution, such as team renewal, culture change and empowering individuals.
