Andrew Manning-Cox
Mediator & Chartered Arbitrator
Short Introduction
I am an experienced commercial mediator, instructed in UK and international disputes, and with a strong track record of success.
I love getting under the skin of an instruction, interacting with the parties and understanding their objectives, gaining their trust and working with them to design a workable solution.
I have very often seen how litigation can destroy value and how successful mediation can preserve and even enhance it. I derive great satisfaction from enabling a resolution.

About Work
I have acted full time in commercial litigation and arbitration, domestic and international, for over 30 years prior to retirement. That brought with it experience in all forms of dispute resolution, including mediation. I became an CEDR-Accredited mediator in 1997 and a FCIArb arbitrator in 2008.
I therefore have a career steeped in mediation acting both as a mediator and as a solicitor acting for parties to mediation. This gives me a broad spectrum of experience to inform innovative workable solutions to disputes of whatever complexity.
It means that I am regulalrly instructed as a mediator.
My skills include:
- an ability to assimilate any volume/detail of papers ahead of a mediation,
- acting at pace for short notice instructions,
- developing and maintaining the confidence of parties in the process and in me as mediator, and
- organising the mediation day such that the parties are invested in it and recognise the dynamic between feeling informed and involved, working with someone of integrity, independence and professionalism, and making progress to a resolution.
My personal style is one of approachability, understanding, good analytical skills, reading the runes in each room, establishing real aims and objectives of ther decision makers and then giving the process, pace and commitment - and sheer hard work - to make progress towards a settlement which is workable and properly memorialised.
I always recognise that the parties to mediations are human beings under varying forms of stress and that a sympathetic ear is an important factor in making progess.
