Short Introduction

After more than 30 years acting for claimants in clinical negligence and personal injury disputes, I know how overwhelming these cases can be for everyone involved. I became a mediator to use that experience differently — to help people move past deadlock and find fair, workable outcomes. What I value most is bringing calm, clarity and empathy to difficult situations, and giving parties the confidence to move forward.

About Work

Muiris is a CEDR-Accredited mediator with over three decades’ experience in clinical negligence and personal injury. Formerly, a senior partner at leading city litigation practice Stewarts and a past President of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL), he has acted for claimants in complex, high-value litigation and worked extensively with defendant firms, insurers and NHS Resolution along with the judiciary, politicians and government officials on issues of access to justice. This unique perspective enables him to understand the clinical, legal and human dimensions of dispute: breach and causation, quantum issues such as rehabilitation and long-term care, and the wider impact on both families and healthcare providers. He is equally attuned to the commercial and reputational pressures facing hospitals, insurers and medical professionals. Muiris’s mediation style is calm, pragmatic and solutions-focused. He builds trust quickly, identifies the issues that really matter, and keeps negotiations purposeful without losing empathy. Primarily facilitative, he is also prepared to reality-test and provide neutral evaluation where requested, particularly in clinically or technically complex matters. Muiris mediates both in-person and online across the UK. He is among the first mediators to be accredited under the new NHS Resolution Early Neutral Evaluation (ENE) scheme, reflecting his commitment to innovation and to supporting parties in reaching fair, practical settlements.
