Beverley Vara

Coach, Assessor

Short Introduction

I spent 20 years as a solicitor in the City before deciding that I wanted to see my (then young) children while they were awake. I therefore transferred to the bar (to act as a mediator only) and started mediating in 2013. Mediation is creative and rewarding. It gets all parties to a solution that works for them whereas acting in litigation you are only focused on a solution that works well for one side.

About Work

With a background as a dispute resolution lawyer, mediation was always likely to be something I considered doing when I left the City. Being invited to join the CEDR faculty and particulate in training the mediators of the future seemed an interesting addition to my post City world. Training is part of the role of a partner in a large law firm, and always something I enjoyed and I am delighted to be able to continue with that. albeit in a slightly different form, through the CEDR faculty.
