Channel 4's Objectives

How Channel 4 partnered with CEDR to develop an intense and practical 4-day training programme to certify 10 employees from across the business as mediators.

The Solution

Being able to confidently engage with challenging situations and topics and dynamics in the workplace requires not only a comprehensive skill set, but also confidence to be able to use them.

This is why Channel 4 partnered with CEDR to develop an intense and practical 4-day training programme to certify 10 employees from across the business as mediators.

The 4-day programme included:

  • Intense learning days focussed on core mediation skills including active listening, managing emotions and conflict styles.
  • Simulated role-plays, mirroring the types of issues and cases faced within the business
  • Personal coaching and feedback to embed skills and improve individual performance and confidence
“Really pleased to be certified as a Channel 4 Mediator by CEDR. Had a brilliant but intense few days with some Channel 4 cohorts learning valuable dispute resolution skills and now looking forward to putting them into practice.”

Rebecca Strong, Senior Legal and Business Affairs Manager

“Best course I have ever done with the best facilitators I have ever experienced.”

Adam Milner, Senior Human Resources Business Partner

“This group showed exceptional engagement in mediation training, dedicating four busy days to develop valuable skills for resolving informal conflict at work. Mediation requires resilience, emotional intelligence, and expertise, all of which they demonstrated fully. Their enthusiasm and commitment to applying what they learned reaffirmed my belief that this was highly beneficial for individuals and the business alike. CEDR deliver an excellent programme with first class tutors.”

Sarah Tegerdine, Head of People Partnering

“Workplace relationship management, negotiation and conflict can really stop us getting things done and can escalate into time consuming and expensive legal issues. To work through these things when, or if, they arise at Channel 4, last week I became a certified Mediator. Many days of learning, assessment and role play was intense and fascinating. Thanks to CEDR for the training.”

Janine Smith, Head of Creative and Culture
