If agreement isn't reached on the day, you can still refer unresolved issues to a judge for decision. However, most cases do settle either during mediation or shortly afterwards, providing closure for everyone involved.

No. Mediation often takes place before any court claim is filed, which can save considerable time and costs. Your lawyer will advise whether early settlement makes sense for your case, even if not all evidence has been exchanged yet.

The mediator will review all papers in advance, then work with you through a combination of joint meetings (involving both parties) and private sessions (just your side and your advisers).

During private meetings, the mediator only enters your room when invited. Everything you share privately remains confidential unless you explicitly give permission to share it with the other party.
