Short Introduction
I am a dispute resolution lawyer with more than 40 years of experience in the insurance and reinsurance fields. Resolution of disputes involves far more than achieving a victory in proceedings. Most of my work has involved negotiating satisfactory outcomes through mediation and direct discussion. Problem solving is something I thoroughly enjoy!
About Work
The first mediation I participated in as a party representative was in 1998. A key learning point for me was that my clients, who were also new to mediation, enjoyed meeting and communicating with the principal on the other side and preferred that direct channel to communicating through lawyers. Some 14 hours later, a settlement of a very significant dispute was achieved. Sharing the means by which barriers can be broken down and conversations progressed is something I have particularly enjoyed during more than 25 years on CEDR faculty.
