Emad Hussein
Short Introduction
About Work
Dr Emad Hussein is an internationally recognised mediator, arbitrator, and dispute resolution specialist with extensive experience in complex commercial, investment, and public-interest disputes, particularly across the MENA region and emerging jurisdictions. He brings to mediation a strong grounding in arbitration, international business law, and comparative dispute resolution, which enables him to manage legally and factually complex disputes with clarity and discipline, while remaining firmly committed to party autonomy and procedural fairness.
Emad’s mediation practice is characterised by a calm, structured, and analytically rigorous style. He is particularly skilled at navigating power imbalances, multi-party dynamics, and culturally diverse settings, and at helping parties move beyond entrenched positions to identify workable, forward-looking solutions. His approach combines careful process design, active listening, and principled reality-testing, allowing parties to engage constructively without feeling pressured or evaluated.
Alongside practice, Emad is deeply engaged in mediation policy, education, and capacity-building. He regularly advises institutions, delivers advanced training, and contributes to research on the future of mediation, online dispute resolution, and hybrid processes. This dual practitioner-academic perspective informs a reflective and ethically grounded mediation style, focused not only on settlement, but on legitimacy, sustainability, and the long-term preservation of relationships.
