Mediator

Short Introduction

Originally, I am a physical Geographer (graduated in 1989) and I earned my graduation as a "European Master in Mediation" in 2000 from Institut Universaire Kurt Bösch in Switzerland. I work mainly as a Mediator of Complex Multiparty Conflicts (environmental, business, community), Facilitator of Public Planning Processes and Trainer for communication, Facilitation and Mediation. I am based in Lisbon, Hamburg and Munich. My working focus is Europe, however I am working worldwide.

About Work

I hold professional accreditations as a CEDR and I am also an IMI mediator. Since 2001 I collaborate with Universities around Europe, moderationg and mediation complex multi-actor projects or as faculty in facilitation and mediation courses. Since 2012 I am Managing Partner of the company MEDIATEDOMAIN, Lda. And since 2021 I collaborate additionally with the University of Hamburg in the team dedicated to co-creative research. My focus is on Moderation and Mediation and my style is mostly facilitative. I am intrinsically convinced, that my most noble task as a mediator is to create arenas for productive and genuine dialogue, among all involved stakeholders. be they fishermen or ministers, citizens or entrepreneurs. I create those arenas as "save spaces" where all actors have the chance do explore togehther their interest and values that originate the positions they defend often in a first phase of the process. I help them to gradually approach each other, enabling them to see and understand mutually their perspectives, finding common ground and developing together consensual solutions. I am quite structured (as a German) and flexible (as a Portuguese). I intervene for about 25 years in multi stakeholder projects, that tackle very different topics from urban planning to nature resource protection and sustainable transformation of organizations or public bodies.
