Overview

Matthew has worked in the construction industry since 1987. He qualified as a Chartered Quantity Surveyor in 1993, having completed his studies whilst working with a national contractor. After qualification he joined a regional contractor where, after undertaking an MSc in Construction Management and qualifying as a Chartered Builder, he progressed to contracts management. Since forming MCMS in 1996, Matthew has specialised in providing quantity surveying services, contract advice and, most notably, dispute resolution services to a wide variety of clients in the UK and internationally. As an experienced dispute resolver, Matthew’s time is now spent acting as a mediator, as well as adjudicator, arbitrator, expert determiner or dispute avoidance board member, having been appointed in over 900 construction and engineering disputes.

Matthew acts as mediator in relation to construction and property related disputes, including complex multi-party disputes, disputes involving public and private bodies, private individuals and insured professionals.
