About Work

Birgit Brödermann is an accomplished conflict-management expert, mediator and facilitator known for her clarity, empathy and structured approach. She combines strong communication skills with a deep understanding of human dynamics, enabling corporate clients and teams to feel grounded, supported and less overwhelmed throughout complex mediation processes. Birgit keeps resolution firmly in view while guiding all parties to explore their interests, needs, priorities and options for moving forward. With more than 15 years of experience as a European project manager, programme developer and intercultural trainer, Birgit has developed a sophisticated skill set in cross-cultural problem solving. She became an Accredited Mediator in 2011, joined Germany’s largest mediation association (BM®) in 2013 and enhanced her international perspective by becoming an Accredited Mediator with the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) in 2015. From 2013 to 2020, Birgit facilitated English-language mock sessions at Bucerius Law School, preparing students for the ICC Commercial Mediation Competition in Paris. As a board member of the Hamburg Institute of Mediation (HIM) from 2013 to 2022—and Vice-President from 2019 to 2022—she modernised and expanded an advanced training programme for experienced mediators. Birgit has worked as a consultant, mediator, trainer and speaker across most EU countries, as well as Switzerland and Ukraine, supporting NGOs, governmental bodies and corporate clients. A defining moment in her professional journey was her 2016 assignment in Ukraine’s Donbas region, where she trained supervisors and psychologists assisting traumatised civilians and veterans near the frontline, an experience that deeply shaped her understanding of conflict and resilience.
