Harry Spurr
Mediator
Short Introduction
The role of mediator is one of great privilege. Accepting an invitation to sit with parties at a time of commercial, financial or personal distress, to hold their trust and confidence, to help carve the difficult path to resolution, carries with it a profound responsibility. It’s a privilege to be handed that responsibility. And when the process works, which it almost always does, it is amazingly rewarding.
About Work
Harry Spurr is a highly accomplished specialist mediator in commercial, civil, property and inheritance disputes, and a former barrister. Ranked as a leading mediator by both Chambers & Partners and Legal 500, he is regularly appointed by the UK’s leading law firms to mediate in complex and challenging cases. He mediates domestically and internationally, in person and online.
Recent mediation clients include high-profile corporations, governments and their ministers, local government and other public sector organisations, SMEs, shareholders and directors, landowners and occupiers, individuals including well-known sports professionals and other public figures, community groups, and many others.
Described recently as “outstanding”, “one of the best”, highly-skilled” and “at the top of his profession”, Harry is regularly commended by parties for his mediation style, and in particular his calming influence and capacity to challenge sensitively but robustly. His consistently excellent feedback, and high settlement rate, speak for themselves.
Harry’s background as a barrister practising for many years from leading chambers, and as the former owner of two successful businesses, gives him a rare insight in the combination of legal and commercial influences that frame disputes.
Harry regularly coaches lawyers on mediation strategy and writes about conflict resolution, and is currently involved in plans for the use of mediation to assist in the reconstruction of Gaza.
Harry’s mediation practice extends across the commercial, civil, property and inheritance spectrum.
