About Work
Having built my career in construction and engineering delivery, working on site, at board and level stage in between, and in more recent years focusing primarily on dispute resolution at home and abroad and as both mediator and adjudicator, I bring a detailed, practical understanding of the industry, its commercial realities and the disputes that all too often arise.
My experience includes disputes over workmanship, time and value, and those between private homeowners and contractors, as well as high value commercial disputes involving employers, main contractors and subcontractors. I also have experience of wider business disputes, including banking, insurance, business valuation, shareholder matters and the sharing of development value.
My approach is predominantly facilitative, with a strong focus on helping parties reach workable, durable outcomes. However, as a Chartered Surveyor and Chartered Construction Manager, I am able where appropriate to draw on informed industry knowledge, educated opinion and an evaluative perspective grounded in significant hands on industry experience. This allows me to give parties the right level of encouragement and challenge at the right time. When discussions become intense or prolonged, I also recognise the value of an appropriate degree of levity to help maintain engagement, reset perspective and support constructive progress.
