About Work

Muiris Lyons specialises in mediating clinical negligence, healthcare, personal injury and professional negligence disputes. He regularly assists patients, healthcare providers, NHS organisations, insurers, legal representatives and families in resolving complex disputes involving medical treatment, catastrophic injury, fatal claims, patient care and compensation.

Before focusing exclusively on mediation and advisory work, Muiris spent more than 30 years practising as a solicitor and over 15 years as a partner at Stewarts, where he led both the Clinical Negligence and Sports Disputes teams. He was widely recognised as one of the UK's leading claimant lawyers in complex clinical negligence cases involving birth injury, brain injury, spinal injury, delayed diagnosis, cancer, sepsis and fatal claims.

His mediation experience includes disputes arising from clinical negligence, personal injury, professional negligence, medical law, sports law, property matters and commercial conflicts. As a member of the CEDR NHS Resolution Panel and Sport Resolutions Panel, he is particularly experienced in disputes involving healthcare, patient safety, sporting organisations and regulatory issues.

Clients value Muiris's calm, engaging and approachable style. He combines careful preparation with strong legal insight and a clear understanding of both the factual and emotional dimensions of conflict. His focus is on helping parties communicate effectively, evaluate options realistically and achieve practical outcomes that support resolution and closure.
