About Work
Patricia Hitchcock KC specialises in mediating clinical negligence, personal injury, healthcare and mental health disputes. She regularly assists patients, healthcare providers, NHS organisations, insurers, legal representatives and families in resolving complex disputes involving medical treatment, catastrophic injury, patient care and compensation claims.
Before focusing on mediation and judicial work, Patricia built a distinguished career as a barrister and King's Counsel, specialising in clinical negligence and serious personal injury litigation. For more than two decades she represented claimants in high-value claims involving brain injury, spinal injury, delayed cancer diagnosis, fatal claims and complex medical evidence. Her work required analysing large volumes of medical records, working closely with leading experts and supporting clients through highly challenging circumstances.
Her mediation experience spans clinical negligence claims, catastrophic injury cases, mental health matters, healthcare disputes, professional negligence issues, discrimination claims, housing disputes and compensation-related conflicts. As a member of the NHS Resolution Panel, she is particularly experienced in disputes involving patient safety, medical treatment and life changing injuries.
Clients value Patricia's thoughtful, empathetic and highly analytical approach. She combines meticulous preparation with excellent communication skills and a strong understanding of both the legal and human dimensions of conflict, helping parties navigate difficult conversations and work towards practical and lasting resolutions.
