Alan Jacobs
Mediator
Short Introduction
The thought that I can make a positive difference to parties engaged together in a dispute and help them to find a compromise that enables them to move on gives me so much motivation and personal satisfaction. In particular, I am always feel honoured when mediating a clinical negligence or personal injury dispute where the subject matter can be so personal, sensitive and emotional to the claimant and so serious and important to the defendant and their staff.
Testimonials
"Brought gravitas and a high level of understanding to the mediation and he developed rapport wonderfully."
"He is particularly good when a situation is being reached that the parties are at a standoff, he’s good at bringing them back to the negotiation table."
"Alan was quite inventive in the way he tried to find ways to get parties to see the strengths and weaknesses of their case."
About Work
I firmly believe that a good mediator can mediate any kind of dispute and I have been fortunate in mediating a very, very wide variety of commercial dispute areas, however my specialism (by virtue of my legal practice background and mediation experience) over time, has become, firstly, clinical negligence disputes and, secondly, personal injury disputes.
I massively enjoy the vast diversity of characteristics that make us all individuals which for me makes the intimate engagement with people at mediation a joy and a natural experience. I am both empathetic and commercially aware.
