Amrik Kandola
Lead Faculty, Trainer
Short Introduction
Helping parties to solve disputes by reaching negotiated settlements is a skill that makes a real difference to both the world of business and people's lives. The world class CEDR Mediator Skills Training course provides the toolkit and learning needed to become a successful Mediator. I am privileged to be part of a faculty team of highly experienced, respected and engaging mediators committed to nurturing and supporting the next generation of mediator talent across the world.
About Work
Over a career spanning 25 years specialising in dispute resolution in construction, engineering and infrastructure at the global law firm, Eversheds, mediation was common to my practice. In 2000, I became a CEDR accredited mediator. This helped me to better advise and work with clients on their contested matters. My interest in becoming a mediator one day grew into a passion over time such that, in 2016, I left private practice to become a full time commercial mediator. I joined the CEDR Mediator Panel in 2018 and the CEDR MST Faculty in 2021. The foundation for my mediator career was my 2000 CEDR accreditation.
The future development of mediation in the UK and beyond needs new mediators from diverse commercial, legal and cultural backgrounds. The evolving legal framework just within England & Wales in recent years means that demand for skilled and well trained mediators is likely to grow. Across the world, jurisdictions are recognising and incorporating mediation and other forms of ADR into their architecture of civil justice. One of the great joys of being a trainer on the CEDR MST course is meeting delegates from across the world, learning about how mediation is developing globally and how delegates could use the CEDR MST accreditation to be part of the story in their jurisdictions.
My colleagues on the MST Faculty are drawn from diverse legal and non-legal backgrounds and cover the broad spectrum of civil and commercial mediations. They are great fun to work with and be around.
