New Director of Commercial Dispute Services
CEDR (Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution) is pleased to announce the appointment of Lauren McGuirl as its new Director of Commercial Dispute Services. McGuirl, a former Senior Associate in the Financial Institutions Dispute Group at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP, will oversee the hundreds of commercial mediations conducted by CEDR each year by its global panel of 144 mediators.
CEDR's Commercial Dispute Resolution service is Europe’s largest independent mediation service provider for major commercial disputes. In the last three decades, CEDR has helped over 100,000 disputants with civil and commercial disputes. Each year, CEDR Commercial Dispute Services provides mediation services for a combined quantum of several billion pounds sterling.
Educated at DeSales University in the USA and St Catherine's College, Oxford University, Lauren joined Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in 2007 and is an Attorney in New York and a Solicitor Advocate in England & Wales. She represented financial institutions and multi-national corporations in a broad range of litigation and contentious regulatory matters involving complex financial products and agreements before the High Court and Court of Appeal.
Lauren takes over Commercial Dispute Services from John Munton, Director of Dispute Resolution Services. John has been instrumental in growing both CEDR’s Commercial and Consumer ADR operations under his previous role of Director of Dispute Resolution. Under his leadership, CEDR has launched the successful National Health Service Mediation service in commercial mediations and has grown a consumer services that now handles thousands of consumer disputes each year. Due to the recent growth of the Consumer service, John Munton will now focus full time on this key area of CEDR’s activities.
