CEDR unveils DLA / KPMG Forensic Accounting sponsored mediator training CD-ROM in five languages
CEDR (the Centre for Dispute Resolution) has unveiled a CD-ROM containing its world-renowned 5 day Mediation Skills Training Course in five languages. The training manuals and course materials are now available in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish in a project sponsored by KPMG Forensic Accounting and DLA who both have extensive continental European operations.
The CD-ROM is part of CEDR's European Mediation Awareness Programme. CEDR, the UK's leading champion of commercial mediation, aims to increase the use of mediation on the continent by spreading good practice through the provision of training in local languages.
The CD will now be tested through KPMG Forensic Accounting and DLA's networks of offices and will ultimately be placed on the internet for on-line access to subscribers.
Samuel Passow, CEDR's Head of Research, said: "Mediation is less mature in Europe but is becoming more widely used. To ensure that its benefits are realised practitioners need to ensure that good practice is established and we hope that CEDR's experience in the UK might encourage this."
David Eastwood, KPMG Forensic Accounting Partner, said: "We have been delighted to work with CEDR on this project as part of our commitment to help clients find cost effective ways of resolving business problems. We greatly value CEDR's training and the help it gives us in advising parties in dispute, both in the UK and on the continent."
Jane Player, Head of Litigation at London DLA, said: "In some ways Europe could be more receptive to mediation. Lawyers tend to do both contentious and non contentious work. We believe the development of CEDR's package will enable us to be at the cutting edge of mediation development on the continent."
