Larry George is a practising barrister (also qualified as a solicitor but not currently practising) with over 30 years’ experience in both the public and private sectors. He now practices at Kingsway Law Ltd which is an Authorised Entity under the Bar Standards Board. His client work includes acting as part-time external General Counsel to 3 companies in addition to his other client work. He is also a consultant to Gordons Partnership LLP and Carter Ruck in addition to his work as an indepdendent mediator and conciliator.
During his career Larry has worked as a lawyer in the Royal Air Force, a partner at Lovells LLP, as in-house counsel with large corporations including as senior in-house counsel for the British Petroleum Company plc (BP), as Group General Counsel of commodity trader Trafigura and as a Consultant to Macfarlanes LLP. Larry has a particular expertise in the energy and natural resources sector, particularly commodity finance and oil and metals trading.
Qualified at the Bar in 1976, Larry gained considerable advocacy experience initially in Magistrates, County and Crown Courts whilst in pupillage at the Bar and then as an RAF Legal officer as an advocate for both prosecution (in RAF cases) and defence (as an RAF Legal officer acting at Army courts martial) and, whilst serving in Germany, for prosecution and defence at Standing Civilian Courts. Larry is qualified as a Solicitor Advocate (Higher Courts, All Proceedings). Larry later qualified as a Solicitor and as a Solicitor Advocate (Higher Courts, All Proceedings) and then reerted to practice as a Barrister in 2017.
